Both tests are accepted by IRCC as French tests for Express Entry, and both results are converted to NCLC levels. Neither test is better or easier for everyone. The practical choice usually comes down to session availability, format and your own strengths.

- If you prefer fewer, longer writing and speaking tasks, the TEF Canada format may suit you better.
- If you prefer more, shorter tasks, the TCF Canada format may suit you better.
- The availability of an official centre and a session date near you may decide it for you.
- Try the official sample materials from both providers before you pay for a test.
Scores are not directly comparable
TEF and TCF raw scores use different scales, so a number on one test cannot be compared with a number on the other. IRCC maps each test's results to NCLC levels. Vocalyra's score lookup currently covers TCF Canada only.
